Summary:
The Commission undertook an extensive survey of the mentally deficient in New York State and held public hearings to gather additional evidence. This series contains correspondence, mostly from physicians, government officials, private charitable agencies, and school administrators, relating to the survey and public hearings, Also include are reports from schools on the number of students and programs. The report from the New York (City) Clearinghouse for Mental Defectives provides descriptions of case registration, diagnosis, placement, and other procedures.
