Summary:
This series contains materials relating to the procedures and operation of the fingerprint identification program. Because civil defense was considered a national security issue, civil defense volunteers were required to be fingerprinted. The Office of Civilian Protection screened for criminals, and fingerprint identification was conducted by the New York State Department of Correction's Division of Identification. The series includes correspondence, monthly reports, and memoranda.
