Scope and Content Note

Microfilmed records from the Washington County Clerk's Office include County Court civil pleadings (1782-1882); Court of Oyer and Terminer and Court of General Sessions indictments (1782-1910) and convictions (1797-1893); and insolvency papers (1813-1867).

Other microfilmed records include Town Clerk's record and minute books for the towns of Argyle (1827-1994), Cambridge (1816-1995), and Greenwich (1803-1899);

tax assessment rolls for the towns of Jackson (1837-1905) and Salem (1781-1812); Board of Trustees' meeting minutes for the Village of Greenwich (1993-1995);

and other records for the towns of Cambridge, Dresden, Jackson, Kingsbury, and Salem and the villages of Cambridge and Greenwich. Examples include road surveys, reports on stray animals, enumerations of inhabitants, burial permits, lists of military exemptions, election records, appointments and resignations, chattel mortgages, and tavern license applications.
