Scope and Content Note

This series consists of a two volume register containing information on men returned to Elmira for parole violations.

The registers contain the following information on each incarcerated individual returned: consecutive number; name; date of return; date of first admission; maximum sentence (beginning in July 1938, the register replaces maximum sentence information with a "Class" number, usually either A, B, C, or D; beginning in September 1945, the register also included an I.Q. score); crime; county of sentencing; previous occupation; names of other institutions where previously confined; age; married or single; color; temperate or intemperate; highest educational level; number of times at Elmira; city or country where born; religion; and date when maximum sentence expires.
