Administrative History
State scholarships were established in 1936 for the children of deceased or disabled veterans of the armed services. They are awarded based on results from a competitive examination. The scholarships may be used at any approved college, university, or normal school in New York State.
The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
