Scope and Content Note

Competitive examinations were held for these scholarships.

These lists provide the following information about each candidate: name, address, high school, score on examination (percentage through 1948; numerical score beginning 1949); and rank. The lists are annotated to indicate the candidates' acceptance, declination, revocation of, or resignation from a scholarship, scholarship number, and name of college.

In addition to the lists of all candidates from each county, this series includes state lists for the years 1922-1941 and honor lists for the years 1922-1926. State lists include those candidates who scored immediately below the candidates given first preference from each county. For each year, these names from all counties are collated into a single list arranged in decreasing numerical order by score. The state lists provide the same information as the lists of all candidates. Honor lists include only the name, address, high school, and examination score of all students in the state who scored 90% or higher on the examination.
