Scope and Content Note

This series consists of educational audiovisual materials produced or distributed by the State Education Department's Bureau of Mass Communications. Audiotape sets in the series concern the contributions of minorities to American literature, life in the People's Republic of China, New York State history, and United States foreign policy. Other audiotapes document meetings relating to the future of industrial arts education and construction of buildings on college campuses. Also included is a motion picture film concerning the New York State legislative process and one entitled, "An Introduction to U.S. Foreign Policy."

Of particular note are videotaped lectures and instructional guides relating to two distance learning courses, "Communications and Society" and "Communications and Education," that were developed by the State Education Department. Students enrolled in these courses were to receive college credit by viewing the videotapes and completing the readings and assignments outlined in the guides.
