This series consists of files and reports from a State Civil Service Commission investigation of the practices of the Lackawanna
City Civil Service Commission in response to veterans groups' legal actions against the municipal commission and petitions
over a fire fighter examination. Records include correspondence; legal documents, petitions from veterans' groups, testimony
transcripts, and the final report. Also included are interviews and statements of applicants for city positions and civil
service concerns of veterans' groups after World War II.
