Scope and Content Note

This volume is a register of legal papers served and filed, and other proceedings in actions brought by the people of the State of New York against railroad corporations. All complaints were sent to sheriffs for service on February 8-9, 1853. The volume also contains entries for cases handled by attorney Anthony Ten Eyck of Albany between 1845 and 1853. The cases were brought in the Court of Chancery, Supreme Court, Albany Mayor's Court, and the Albany County Surrogate's Court. Many of the cases involve members of the Ten Eyck family.
