Scope and Content Note
These volumes contain reports, statements, and cost estimates submitted by engineers working on the Western Division of the Erie Canal. Records document construction work and repairs to the Erie Canal and Genesee Valley Canal. Cost estimates generally take the form of charts, which provide a brief description of the project, quantities, items or type of work involved, unit prices, and total amounts. Narrative reports found in the volumes provide detailed descriptions and justifications for various projects.
