Scope and Content Note

B0693-98: This accretion consists of time books (1915-1921) created by the Department of Public Works to document expenditures for labor and materials used in fulfillment of contracts to adapt the Genesee River for use as a spur from the Barge Canal to Rochester, New York. Information provided varies from book to book but usually includes dates, location and description of work performed, lists of materials delivered, names of and/or duties performed by employees, and amounts paid. Also included are a few field books, books containing data gathered from rock soundings, and records of railroad cars and material delivered.

The accretion also includes ca. 70 estimates by contractors for highway improvements (1904) in the Monroe County, New York area.
