Scope and Content Note
This series contains information in a tabular format on miscellaneous payments for work done on the Western Division of the New York State Canal System which ran from Erie County to Seneca County. The payments in this series are for work completed on the Erie and Genesee Valley Canals. These tables contain the dates of payments and charges; person or contractor that was paid; and what they were paid for (e.g. labor and materials for setting valve gates in weigh lock, payments for the removal of buildings, paying landowners for temporary occupation of land and damage to buildings or land on account of Erie Canal construction).
