This series consists of abstracts describing the military service of New York men who served in the 26th Regiment, United
States Colored Troops. Individual abstracts provide the following information: name; date and place of enlistment; age (in
years); length of enlistment; date mustered in; grade; company and regiment; date left the organization; how (mustered out,
discharged, deserted, etc.); in what grade; explanation (usually left blank); and remarks (only occasionally filled in).
