Scope and Content Note
This series consists of complete tax assessment rolls (for both residents and non-residents) for the town of Gravesend, Kings County (since 1898 part of the borough of Brooklyn), likely acquired by the Comptroller's office in connection with sales of lands of non-residents for unpaid taxes. Each entry on a roll provides the name of the taxable, assessed valuation, and the amount of tax. The rolls are contemporary copies, not originals.
