Scope and Content Note
This series consists of thirteen construction permit files documenting requests by businesses and private individuals to build structures on state land adjacent to canals. Anticipated structures include freight elevators, boat houses, coal sheds, warehouses and storage facilities, and mills deploying water power. Files typically include original application and supporting maps or plans, inspectors reports and recommendations, and resolutions of the Canal Board favoring or opposing the granting of requested permit. The actual permits are not included in these files.
