Scope and Content Note

This series consists of a one-volume journal recording Clinton Prison's cash receipts, disbursements, and balances from October 3, 1910 to January 30, 1915. The function of the cash book was to provide an on-going record of the prison's income, expenditures, and cash on-hand.

The cash book includes entries in the following categories:

1) Cash receipts and balances: date; name of account; prison capital fund cash: accounts receivable, prison capital fund; C.D. and M.E. fund cash; and general cash.

2) Cash disbursements: date; name of payee; general cash: maintenance, other appropriations, industries, convicts' compensation, deposit refunds, total; transferred out of funds: account name, amount; check number.

The bottom of each journal page includes totals for category entries which are forwarded to the top of the following page.
