Scope and Content Note

This series consists of Public Service Commission Second District and Unified Public Service Commission case docket books. Each volume contains an alphabetical index at the fore which indexes cases by petitioner or complainant, and in adversary cases, respondent. In later volumes, index entries also include brief abstracts of the matter being taken up by the commission in the given case (nature of petition or complaint).

Each docket book case record includes case number; name of the party or parties involved; abstract of the matter under consideration; name of attorney for complainant or petitioner; and dated line entries documenting the progress and resolution of the case. Typical line entries record receipt of original petition or complaint; filing of memoranda by executive clerk; forwarding of certified copy of complaint to respondent(s); receipt of response; scheduling of hearing and notification of parties; commencement, continuation, and closing of hearing; filing of minutes; issuing and nature of final order; transmission of order to interested parties; receipt of acceptance of order or (occasionally) petition for new hearing; closing of case.
