Scope and Content Note

The series consists of architectural and mechanical drawings of the State Education Department building located on Washington Avenue in Albany, New York. The original drawings were made by the architectural firm of Palmer and Hornbostel on February 10, 1908. Individual drawings were revised up until approximately March 11, 1911. The drawings include elevations; floor plans; heating, ventilating, and electrical wiring diagrams; and plumbing system and fixture drawings.

Drawn on architectural linen, they measure approximately 45 x 92 inches. F.A. Burdett and Henry C. Meyer, Jr. are listed as engineer for some of the mechanical renderings. Some of the drawings are damaged, resulting in loss of information, especially regarding revision dates. According to the internal numbering sequence, three drawings from the set are apparently missing.

B1506-22: This accretion relates to a 1991 electrical rehabilitation of the third floor and 1996-1998 asbestos remediation of the second floor.
