Scope and Content Note
These registers were compiled by the comptroller's office from reports received from county treasurers regarding unpaid taxes on resident lands (belonging to state residents) in the Forest Preserve. Information recorded includes county and town; lot number; name and/or description of tract; name of owner; number of acres; valuation; amount of tax plus five percent; and remarks and explanations. Remarks typically consist of notations of payment; inability to locate owner; reasons for non-payment; and errors in the assessment or description.
