Scope and Content Note

The series consists of cassette tape recordings and typed transcripts of interviews conducted in 1993 with current and former administrators and employees of the State Education Department, members of the Board of Regents, and other educators. The interviews were conducted by Rose Mary Roy as research for her doctoral dissertation, "An Historical Study of Doctoral Program Review, 1964-1977: Significant Components of Change and Type of Policy Engendered by the New York State Board of Regents," (Ed.D. dissertation, SUNY Albany, 1996).

The general subject of the interviews was the development, procedures, activities, and impact of the Education Department's doctoral program review during the period 1964-1977. Special attention is given to the role of the Board of Regents in developing and guiding the doctoral program review, and to other factors influencing the program. A published copy of Dr. Roy's dissertation is also included.

Cassettes are standard compact size (3 7/8 x 2 1/2 inches).
