Administrative History
This index was created over a number of years by staff of the Adjutant General's Office to facilitate access to Civil War muster roll abstracts held by that office. Sporadic references to the creation of this index which appear in the Adjutant General's annual reports indicate that the index was compiled sometime between 1900 and 1920.
Scope and Content Note
This series consists of a multi-volume, typewritten name index to series 13775, Civil War Muster Roll Abstracts of New York Volunteers. Each entry consists of name and regimental unit.
