The series documents a wide range of activities carried out during the operation and maintenance of the canal. The records consist primarily of lock operator's weekly reports and also include construction and maintenance contract files, inventories, work reports, work schedules and reports, floating plant reports, gage charts and reports, subject files, and correspondence.
The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
