These records were transferred to the State Archives by the State Library sometime in 1978 but became estranged from other extradition case files for some unknown reason. They were identified during the 11th floor renovation project and accessioned in 2006.

The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
