Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible website of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, a subsidiary of the Empire State Development Corporation.

B2095-07: This accretion consists of a copy of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation site produced on December 31, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. The bulk of this copy consists of planning documents (2002), design studies (2002-2003), environmental reviews (2004), architectural renderings, public transportation feasibility studies (2004), and other materials relating to the rebuilding of the World Trade Center site. Also included are presentations (2002, 2006), public meeting transcripts (2003), and other materials concerning the design competition for a memorial honoring those who died at the World Trade Center site on September 11, 2001. This copy also contains press releases (2001-2006), transcripts of speeches (2002-2005) made by Governor Pataki and other officials, and draft and final action plans (2002-2006) and quarterly reports (2002-2006) written to secure federal funding for the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site and the economic revitalization of Lower Manhattan. Information about public meetings sponsored by the corporation, funding initiatives for lower Manhattan businesses and cultural organizations, and the corporation's staff, board of directors, and advisory councils is also included.

Researchers should note that none of the navigational links at the top of each page work properly; however, the identical links at the bottom of each page work as they should. Moreover, the navigational links on the left side of the page do not always work. Clicking on the "Welcome" link at the bottom of the page and then clicking on the desired link usually resolves this problem. Owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of web archiving technology, the "Rebuilding Timeline: Overview" link does not work; other links throughout the site, including those providing access to information about corporation board and advisory council meetings, also fail to work properly.

Also present are additional transcripts of speeches (2002-2007) made by Governor Pataki and other officials and additional quarterly reports (2002-2008) written to secure federal funding for the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site and the economic revitalization of Lower Manhattan.
