This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible websites of the New York State Office of the Inspector General.

B2120-07: This accretion consists of a copy of the website of the Office of the Inspector General produced on December 29, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains information about the office's mission and organizational structure, the text of the law outlining the office's powers and duties, and an annual report (2005-2006). The bulk of the information contained within this copy consists of reports of investigations (2006) and related press releases (2006) concerning the improper or illegal conduct of individual state and local government employees and the operations of the Louis Gossett Jr. Residential Facility for male juvenile delinquents. Information about how to file a complaint with the office is also included.

2120-08: This accretion includes a copy of the Office of the Inspector General site produced on April 10, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It contains information about the organization's mission, the text of the law outlining the office's powers and duties, and information about filing complaints with the office. The bulk of the information contained within this copy consists of reports of investigations (2006-2008) and related press releases (2006-2008) concerning improper or illegal conduct of individual state and local government employees; operations of the Louis Gossett Jr. Residential Facility for male juvenile delinquents (2006); programs administered by the State Dept. of State's Division of Codes Enforcement and Administration (2007), the State Division of Housing and Community Renewal (2007), and the New York City Police Dept. Forensic Laboratory (2007); and organizations seeking to operate the Aqueduct, Belmont, and Saratoga horseracing tracks (2007).

Researchers should note that, owing to the site's structure and the limitations of Web archiving technology, the appearance of this copy's home page differs substantially from that of the live site.

It contains information about the organization's mission, the text of the law outlining the office's powers and duties, and information about filing complaints with the office. The bulk of the information contained within this copy consists of reports of investigations and related press releases (2006-2010) concerning improper or illegal conduct of individual state and local government employees and mismanagement of state programs and resources.

Some reports concern pervasive abuses or misconduct, including agency investigations into allegations of abuse of Jonathan Carey, a child with disabilities who died while in state care (2008); abuses of authority and public resources by the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor (2009); misconduct in criminal laboratories run by Erie County, Monroe County, and the State Police (2009); improper use of State Fair funds (2010); improprieties in Higher Education Services Corporation student loan collection activities (2010); and inappropriate financial and hiring practices at the New York State Theatre Institute (2010).
