Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible websites of the New York State Education Department.

B2165-07: This accretion consists of a copy of the main State Education Department site produced on March 13, 2007, after Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains contact information for the department, news releases (2007), and information about upcoming scheduled service interruptions (2007).

Researchers should note that the homepage site has little content other than redirects to other State Education Department websites.

This accretion also includes a copy of another site maintained by the State Education Department as of March 2007. This content site, which was copied on March 13, 2007 and was seamlessly integrated into the main State Education Department site, contains resources for citizens, individuals with disabilities, licensed professionals, parents, school administrators, teachers, and students. In addition, there is content on grants and finance at the local, state, and federal level; laws and regulations that govern the department; information about licensing and certification through the department; links for the New York State Museum, Library and Archives; and information about pre-kindergarten to adult education. There is also information about the department's history, mission, and organizational structure; a complete list of acronyms frequently used by the department; a listing of publications and forms; and a list of contact emails for departmental offices and programs (2007).

Researchers should note that the publications and forms, which were housed on other State Education Dept. Web sites, are not included in this copy.

This accretion also includes copies of another site maintained by the State Education Department as of May 2008. This content site, which was copied on May 10, 2008 and was seamlessly integrated into the main State Education Department site, contains resources for citizens, individuals with disabilities, licensed professionals, parents, school administrators, teachers and students regarding the various programs and divisions of the department that can provide assistance to members of the different groups.

In addition there is content on grants and finance at the local, state, and federal level; laws and regulations that govern the department; higher education, such as colleges and universities; information on licensing and certification through the department; links to the sites of the New York State Museum, Library and Archives; and information about pre-kindergarten to adult education. There is also information about the department's history, mission, and organizational structure; a complete list of acronyms frequently used by the department; a listing of publications and forms; and a list of contact emails for departmental offices and programs (2008).
