Senator Carl L. Marcellino, a Republican, was first elected to the Senate in a March 1995 special election. He represents the 5th Senate District, which consists of part of the Town of Oyster Bay (Nassau County) and part of the Town of Huntington (Suffolk County). He has chaired the standing committees on Environmental Conservation (1995-2008) and Investigations and Government Operations (2011-present).
