Administrative History

Senator John L. Sampson, a Democrat, was first elected to the Senate in 1996. He represents the 19th Senate District, which consists of all or part of the Brookyln neighborhoods of Georgetown, Paerdegat Basin, Canarsie, Brownsville, New Lots, East New York, Starrett City, and Spring Creek. He has served as Majority Conference Leader (2009-2010), Deputy Majority Leader for State/Federal Relations (2009-2010), and Minority Leader (2011-present). He has also chaired the Standing Committee on the Judiciary (2009-2010), the Standing Committee on Ethics (2009-2010), and the Administrative Regulations Revision Commission (2009-2010).
