Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the official website of Senator Catharine Young. Researchers should note that in 2009, each Senator was allotted space on the main Senate Website and the official sites of individual Senators were removed from the live Web.

It contains biographical information; photographs; a district map; and press releases (2008) concerning legislation enhancing benefits for veterans and armed forces personnel and barring sexual contact between students and school employees, a new state economic development program, and other matters of interest to Senator Young's constituents. Also included are a Senate Majority Task Force on Immigration report, "Fiasco: The Governor's Plan to Grant Illegal Aliens Drivers Licenses in New York State" (2007); information about agriculture provisions within the 2008-2009 Executive Budget; and a "blog post" with forty-one citizen comments concerning the March 2008 sweep of Snowmobile Trail Maintenance Fund monies into the State General Fund.

Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, most of the information contained within this site could not be captured properly in mid-2008. In addition, some of the navigational links do not work properly. However, identical sets of navigational links appear at the top and the bottom of each page. If the link in one set does not work correctly, click the Web browser's Back button and then click on the corresponding link in the other set.
