Scope and Content Note

This series consists of word-processed partial transcriptions of interviews conducted by Joseph H. Boyd, Jr. for the book co-authored by him and Charles R. Holcomb, published by SUNY Press in 2012.

Interviewees are individuals who had served in the administration of Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller (1959-1973) or who had contacts with him during that period. Among the topics discussed in the interviews are the Empire State Plaza, Urban Development Corporation, amendments to the Civil Service Law known as the Public Employees Fair Employment Act ("Taylor Law"), and amendments to the Penal Law ("Rockefeller Drug Laws"). Other topics are Rockefeller's relationships with staff, legislators, and others; his election campaigns; and his trip to Latin American in 1969.

Douglas Barclay, Roy Goodman, Michael Osterman, Ronald W. Pedersen, Joseph Persico, Maxine Paul Pouravelis, and Robert W. Stone, Jr. are among those interviewed.
