Administrative History
Between 1971 and 1978, the Chief Planner for Roosevelt Island Development Corporation (RIDC) was Diane Porter. In this role, she oversaw various aspects of the development on Roosevelt Island. Her responsibilities included planning the community's system of schools and day care centers, maintaining contact with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and overseeing development of parks and recreational facilities on the island.

This series contains the subject and correspondence files maintained by Diane Porter as well as other materials used for reference in the planning of Roosevelt Island. Records include correspondence, memoranda, and statistical reports. Topics addressed in these records include the school system on Roosevelt Island, the planning of Franklin D.
