Scope and Content Note
This series consists of news articles and publications collected and published by the New York State Department of Correctional Services (DOCS). Records include daily news summaries distributed to DOCS staff. These news summaries were used to track the publication of articles covering topics relevant to the work of DOCS. Also included in this series are copies of multiple newsletters published by DOCS. These newsletters include copies of The Correction Employee from 1981-1985, Focus from 197-1979, and Correctional Services News from 1976-1985. Topics of note covered in this series include inmate work programs, gun control, capital punishment, and living conditions in prisons.
