Scope and Content Note

This series consists of personal and professional papers and ephemera associated with the life and career of New York State Attorney General Robert Abrams. The series documents his public service in the New York State Assembly, as Bronx Borough President, and as State Attorney General. Records include correspondence; speeches; photographs; videotapes; audiocassettes; scrapbooks; news clippings; and Department of Law annual reports, press releases, opinions, and accomplishments.

Among the topics in the videotapes and press releases are public service announcements of tenants' rights, investment fraud, the used car Lemon Law, and toxic waste. Personal papers in this series include notes, awards, honors, and books from Abrams' high school, college, and law activities, as well as family photographs, correspondence, holiday cards, and letters from friends and family following the death of his father.

Also included are ephemera, awards, campaign material, memorabilia, and honors given to Abrams during the course of his professional and private career acknowledging and documenting his service to societal and charitable concerns.
