Scope and Content Note

The few documents of this series relate to a judgment by a town of Romulus justice of the peace in Seneca County. The judgment was removed to the Seneca County Court of Common Pleas by a writ of certiorari, and thence submitted without writ of error to the Supreme Court by stipulation of the attorneys. The documents are the return to writ of certiorari, with stipulation, plaintiff's brief, and a letter to the clerk of the Supreme Court at Utica (There are multiple copies of most documents). The location of remaining "stipulations," inventoried by the W.P.A. Historical Records Survey (item # 5), dating from 1829 to 1847, is unknown.
