Scope and Content Note
This series consists of actions taken and documents filed in cases involving the appointment of a guardian, committee, or receiver. The Register was mandated by the rules of the court to keep minutes of such appointments.
These minutes are recorded in a form similar to Register's Minutes of Causes, 1813-1847. The heading for each case recorded contains the name of dependent(s), whether a lunatic, drunkard, or infant, the name of the solicitor, and the year the case was brought before the Chancellor. If the case involved a bankrupt corporation and a receivership, the names of the parties concerned in the case appear. The main body of entries for each case contains a chronological listing of each action taken or document filed and their date. Included in this listing are the court order appointing and the name of the guardian, committee, or receiver.
