Scope and Content Note

This series consists of transcripts of judgments docketed by the Clerk of the Supreme Court at New York City.

Each entry gives the following information: name of party against whom judgment has been obtained, name of party in whose favor judgment has been obtained, amount of debt, amount of damages and costs, date and hour of filing judgment roll, name of attorney for losing party, and date of satisfaction, if any. The transcripts were compiled every two weeks by the Clerk of the Supreme Court of Judicature in New York City, and forwarded by him to the other clerks. The fascices were bound together by the clerk of the court at Albany. The transcripts were made and their contents certified as to accuracy by the clerk of the court, pursuant to a law of 1798 requiring that the transcripts be compiled back to April 22, 1797.
