Administrative History

Chapter 203 of the Laws of 1870 resulted in the creation of the Temporary Commission of Appeals. The Commission was to last for five years and was set up to help dispose of the backlog of cases that had built up in the Court of Appeals.

The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
