Arrangement

Alphabetical by complainant surname.

Scope and Content Note

Cards index most files in Series JN324, Depositions and Exhibits in Chancery Cases. Each card states the names of complainant and defendant, name of court (Chancery), "nature of paper" (interrogatories, deposition, etc.), and document file code. A list of index cards for which corresponding files were not located is available at the State Archives.

Custodial History

These index cards were extracted by staff of the Unified Court System from a much larger card index to a record series called "Supreme Court Commissions and Depositions," which ends in 1910. That series and the card index are held by the New York County Clerk's Office.
