Scope and Content Note

This series contains information on several hundred projects for which the New York State Postwar Public Works Planning Commission allocated funds for design work. The records consist of summaries of these projects prepared to assist the Commission in its allocation decisions. The summaries are grouped together by the monthly meeting of the Commission for April-December 1946.

The summaries provide general information about each project including: title, location, estimated construction costs, costs for design, recommended design allocation from the Commission, and a one paragraph project description. For projects by state agencies and authorities, the records also contain correspondence between the Commission, the Department of Public Works, and the agency or authority outlining the need for the projects and the costs involved.
