Scope and Content Note

This series consists of published copies of annual reports, program audits, statistical guidelines, guidebooks, surveys, lists, ordinances, proposals, transcripts, and other materials related to policy setting and issuances of guidelines by the Assembly Standing Committee on Codes. Materials pertain to a wide range of organizations including New York State Courts, Division of Probation, Office of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities, Jury System Management Advisory Committee, New York State Law Enforcement Council, Dept. of Correctional Services, Division of Substance Abuse, Division of Criminal Justice Services, and various other commissions and Assembly task forces.

Material is primarily associated with criminal justice and substance abuse issues. Examples of topics include substance abuse programs, local assistance in crime prevention, probation supervision, organized crime, fingerprint retrieval, alternatives to incarceration, grand jury reform, the death penalty, use of deadly force, and judicial compensation. There is also a very small amount of material relating to environmental topics such as forest related industries and hazardous wastes.
