Summary:
The collection consists of correspondence, publications, reports, meeting minutes, and other materials related to the operation
of the New York State Education Department under Commissioner of Education George D. Stoddard. Included are records relating
to efforts of the State Education Department to deal with specific challenges facing education during World War II and post-World
War II period including vocational and higher education for returning soldiers, increased funding for teachers colleges, and
extension programs for library and archives services.
