Administrative History
Issuance of stock for canal loans was authorized by Laws of 1817, Chapter 262. Issuance of bonds for the loan of $1,000,000, popularly called the "Million Loan," was authorized by Laws of 1818, Chapter 282.
Scope and Content Note
This series contains quarterly returns of stockholders of the State's "Million Loan" and the canal loans of 1817-1823. The lists of stockholders include: dates; names of stockholders; amount of stock held; and interest due.
