Summary:
Reports from the Office of the Auditor of the Canal Department include information on date; number and location of lock; number of boats passing east, west, north and/or south ,an affidavit that the report is correct. Also included are a few reports of the number of lock tenders employed on various locks, giving names, ages, length of service; and a few weekly reports of goods shipped east or west from Buffalo.

Scope and Content Note

Each report provides daily information on: date; number and location of lock; number of "floats" (boats or cribs) passing east and west or north and south.

At the end is the affidavit of the lock tender that the report is correct. The series also includes few reports of the number of lock tenders employed on various locks, giving names, ages, length of service; and a few weekly reports of goods shipped east or west from Buffalo.
