State appropriations for county agricultural societies were authorized by L. 1841, Ch. 169; L. 1845, Ch. 169; L. 1845, Ch. 60; L. 1848, Ch. 299.
Scope and Content Note
A1298-78: This volume is a ledger of accounts kept by the Comptroller's office for state aid to agricultural societies; and treasurer's reports of county agricultural societies to the Comptroller. On the debit side of the ledger are entered state appropriations to county agricultural societies and voluntary subscriptions; on the credit side are entered cash payments for premiums offered at agricultural fairs, and balances carried forward. There is an index in the front of this volume.
A1298-07: This accretion contains treasurer's reports of county agricultural societies to the State Comptroller's office. The counties include Steuben and Oswego and the town of Hornellsville (Steuben County).
Processing Information
A1298-07: These reports were transferred to the State Archives by the New York State Library in 1978 but somehow became estrayed. They were later identified and accessioned in June 2007 as part of the eleventh floor relocation project.
