Scope and Content Note

Consisting of a single volume, this series contains names of individuals nominated for various state and federal elective offices. The volume was compiled by the secretary of state's office, pursuant to Chapter 262 of the Laws of 1890, which required certificates of nomination to be filed in that office by the county clerks. This volume does not contain the actual certificates, but appears to be more of an administrative tool because it lists the names of nominees under the office for which they campaigned.

The register provides the date of filing, name of candidate, party or political principle represented, nominee's residence (street and city) and the name of the principal signer of the certificate of nomination, along with his P.O. Address. Nominees are listed for the offices of previous hit governor, attorney general, justice, representatives in U.S. Congress, state senators and presidential electors.
