Scope and Content Note
A large loose leaf format volume records the sale of goods produced at Auburn Prison.
The volume is organized into monthly statements, each about 8 to 10 pages long. Each page lists the name and address of a customer (usually a state agency or institution or county clerk's office) and the item bought or sold. Under a column entitled "brought forward" is listed the date of the transaction and the unit price of the item. The next eight columns are entitled "women's prison," "total," "wood working," "broom and basket," "bed and brass," "cloth," "farm," and "sign and number plate." In these columns are the appropriate sums listed for each sale. At the end of the monthly entry, the figures are then totaled and entries are made for credits, gross sales, and net sales.
