Scope and Content Note
This series consists of lists of attorneys who were admitted to practice law in the First, Second, Third, and Fourth Departments of the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division; as well as lists of attorneys who were disbarred, suspended, or otherwise disciplined in these judicial departments. The lists were submitted by Appellate Division court clerks to the New York State Court of Appeals in accordance with the "amended rules of the Appellate Division, Supreme Court." The series includes a list of female lawyers in New York State up to around 1919.
