J5076-06: Chronological.
Scope and Content Note
This series consists of receipts, copies of orders and decrees, certificates of appointment of guardian, powers of attorney, and correspondence relating to money deposited with the court. Most of these funds were deposited with the court in cases involving guardianships and incompetencies (i.e., lunacy, habitual drunkeness), trusteeships, and disputes over estates. The receipts make up the bulk of the series. They were for monies paid out by the court and contain the title of the case, the date of payment, name and title of court officer making the payment, date of payment, amount paid, and the name and title (i.e., guardian, executor) receiving the money. Other types of records in this series contain information on court actions affecting accounts and the appointment of guardians, executors, and powers of attorney.
J5076-06: This accretion consists of receipts; bonds; deposits; reports; Circuit Court records; and Library, Chancery, and Court of Appeals fund records relating to the Court of Chancery Funds.
