Scope and Content Note
This series contains correspondence, memorandums, reports, copies of legislative bills, transcripts of statements and testimonies, publications, and newspaper clippings. The files were compiled by the Central File Division of the Commerce Department and include a substantial amount of records directed to and generated by the Commissioner's Office. The files deal with proposed federal and state legislation as well as enacted legislation. They are concerned primarily with the effects of proposed bills on New York State's commerce. These files contain the same types of records found in Executive Chamber Bill Jackets.
The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
