Scope and Content Note
This series consists of the subject files of the Division of Industrial Sciences and Technologies within the New York State Department of Commerce. Record types include correspondence, memoranda, reports, information bulletins and publications, news articles and clippings, copies of proposed legislation, meeting minutes, and legal documents. Topics covered by the records include energy policy, resources, and providers; discharge of PCBs into the Hudson River by General Electric; proposed legislation; air, water, and thermal pollution; recycling; and water quality and supply. The series also documents the interactions of the Division with federal and state agencies on various matters, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, New York State Environmental Board, New York State Public Service Commission, New York State Energy Office, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and the Great Lakes Commission.
